1 Corinthians 13:1-3:
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it, but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
Your Actions (X) Your Love = Value
100 X 0 = 0
100 X 4 = 400
10 X 90 = 900!
Matthew 22:36-39:
“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”
Jesus replied, “’You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commands.
1. "God, change me to be like Jesus!"
Requires 2 things:
1. Exposure
2. Listening
Remember:
1. Your own growth and mistakes
2. To reflect on God and how he sees others
Romans 5:6-8:
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
1. "God, change me to be like Jesus!"
(Ensure exposure, be sure to listen)
(Remember your own growth and mistakes; reflect on how God sees others)
2. Do something
Romans 7:18-25a:
And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it. I have discovered this principle of life – that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. I love God’s law with all my heart. But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Oh, what a miserable person I am! will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
“God, change me to be more like Jesus.”
